CASE ROSTOCK HARBOUR: PORTABLE GRAIN ANALYSIS CREATES NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR A PROFESSIONAL LAB
The ECS Eurocargo Services GmbH has been testing out the GrainSense Handheld Analyzer in Rostock Port, Germany. Anke Neumann, Administrative Manager from ECS Eurocargo Services has found the GrainSense Analyzer an interesting and useful addition to their work, as the portable device opens up new opportunities for their lab in serving their customers at the port as well as outside of it.
“In our lab we analyze grain which is inspected by our colleagues on the vessels for import and export, as well as in silos and trucks. Typically, we analyze moisture and protein, and the biggest commodity we analyze is wheat,” Ms. Neumann explains their line of work.
They’ve been testing the GrainSense Handheld Analyzer for a couple of months now and have recognized new business opportunities it could enable in the services they offer.
“My colleagues who work directly at the vessels find it helpful to take it with them and make their analysis on-site. The GrainSense Analyzer is small and easy to handle – all things that are necessary for measurements are very simple. The required sample size is also small. The results are shown very quickly, and they are stored on cloud basis. It can be used everywhere, also without electricity, that’s very smart,” Ms. Neumann describes the freedom of location the portable device empowers.
The team at ECS Eurocargo Services found the GrainSense Analyzer very easy to use right out of the box. Customer service from GrainSense has also been good, as the staff from both GrainSense and ECS worked together to finetune the calibration of the device to respond to the need of a professional lab.
