Harvesting Data in the North: GrainSense Wraps Up the Season
As the harvest season in the North wraps up, we at GrainSense are proud to have played a key role in supporting farmers and operators through data collection. This year, we actively participated in the DataSato project, or "Data Harvest", a significant initiative aimed at boosting the business capabilities of agricultural producers while promoting sustainable farming practices.
The DataSato project focuses on empowering farmers by helping them make the most of the data collected from their agricultural machinery. This data-driven approach allows for smarter, more efficient decision-making on the farm, contributing to both profitability and sustainability.
Emma Erkkilä, a key team member from KPEDU (Central Ostrobothnia Education Association), highlighted the practical impact of the project:
“What made the DataSato project particularly interesting was the blend of data collection insights with practical applications from the farmer’s perspective. Collaborating with GrainSense has been excellent. We've received complete support in operating the GS COMBINE on our combine harvester.”
Antti Leinonen, COO of GrainSense, shared his enthusiasm for the project’s development:
“The open and active collaboration with educational farms allowed us to test new data flow models, using real user feedback. Special thanks to KPEDU and the Tarvaala Bioeconomy Campus (JAMK and POKE) for their support throughout this project.”
As we look forward to next season, we're excited about the continued opportunities to help farmers harness the power of data to improve efficiency and sustainability in agriculture.
